Laurie and I had a hard time coming up with a theme for the nursery. Mostly because it has to be neutral theme as we are not going to find out the sex of the baby ahead of time.
I came across this room which was posted on Better Homes and Gardens as a "modern" look. We took a chance and decided to go for it.
Laurie and her sister painted 3 walls of the room (which was a pale pink color) Stone Hearth, which is a dark grey.
And then I spent about 4 hours yesterday painting the other wall with the squares.
I measured the width and height of the wall, which turned out to be 116" x 92". Since I'm at least partially retarded, I decided to use my good friend Adobe Photoshop to figure out how to attack this wall. Creating a new document, 1160 by 920 pixels, each 10 x 10 pixels representing a square inch. I played around with different size squares and eventually came up with 28 inch squares, which left an extra 2 inches on top and bottom. I decided that when laying out the squares, I would just have the top and bottom rows of squares be an inch taller.... no one will notice. Here is the photoshop image I created:
And here are some pics of the job in progress and then completed.
